The 11 hectare New Junction precinct is on track to become an iconic, vibrant and diverse destination in Midland It represents $680 million of new construction work, a $990 million boost to the local economy and a $2 2 billion boost to the WA economy New Junction, bounded by Morrison Road, Keane Street, the Crescent and Sayer Street is a Master planned project expected to accommodate approximately 1,500 – 2,000 residents typically in four to seven level mixed use buildings Some 23,000m2 of new retail floor space, 12,200m2 of restaurant space and 75,000m2 of new office floor space is planned along with civic and hospitality uses De Mol Investments Pty Ltd have completed the first residential apartment building Catalyst is an eight level building with a mix of one, two and three bedroom rental apartments Swan Valley Fresh Markets Pty Ltd, the iconic fresh markets on the corner of Morrison Road and Keane Street, have settled on the adjacent 7,508m2 lot 9508 When complete, the proposed development will include a basement and nine floors, consisting of 640 car bays, 7,920m2 of retail space, 2,630m2 of office space, 2,214m2 medical centre and 130 apartments Mr Opferkuch, one of the two owners, said he believed in the overall vision for New Junction “It’s an incredibly underutilised area of land,” he said “I think Midland needs a new image – something to say, ‘we’re more than this’ It needs something brand new and optimistic “I think the WA economy is in a very, very strong position, so if we can get energy into this project now, it’s perfect timing ” Providence Lifestyle Village is a proposed 11 storey over 55’s development on lot 811, a 5,325m2 site
