The City of Joondalup and its health partners are focused on developing a regional medical cluster in the areas of research, talent, technology and allied health, to meet the needs of the northern corridor.
Joondalup is home to the Joondalup Health Campus (JHC), the largest health care facility in the northern suburbs of metropolitan Perth. The 722-bed JHC, along with Edith Cowan University (ECU), are major occupants of the Joondalup city centre. As a major facility, JHC has attracted general practitioners and other health related specialists into Joondalup.A $256.7 million plan to expand JHC and the newly established Australian Medical Association WA (AMAWA) Training College in Joondalup have created an opportunity to develop a world class health precinct. Joondalup is leading in several key areas of specialist health and there are significant opportunities to attract new investment, grow new businesses or to export services and knowledge globally. In August 2022, Linear Clinical Research opened its new state-of-the art facility in the Joondalup CBD and is now operating internationally acclaimed medical clinical trials in Joondalup. The facility named the Joondalup Early Phase Centre is one of the most advanced clinical trial centres in the entire Asia-Pacific region and will help position WA as a leading destination for the world’s biopharmaceutical companies.
