Infrastructure head works investment by Government to allow for an ‘investment ready’ aquaculture precinct. Power upgrades, site clearing/preparation, access roads, installation of seawater hydraulic infrastructure. There is 140ha of highly suitable land available for aquaculture development adjacent the Esperance city.
The parcel of land currently held (secured with options to purchase – expiring June 2023) by the partnership of RFA and Yumbah totals 140 hectares. The property is an aquaculture development location of National significance. It is located adjacent the town of Esperance, has access to pure, oceanic seawater, is of a large enough size to develop several aquaculture businesses (eg abalone, finfish, oysters and seaweed), is of a low head to keep pumping costs low, has access to Port, rail & road and has the support of local government, Tjaltjraak nation and the community. Government investment in enabling infrastructure – site preparation, power upgrades and installation of seawater supply would enable significant private capital investment into the precinct as the location would be ‘investment ready’ by significantly reducing the early stage capital intensive requirements of developing an aquaculture business in a ‘greenfield’ location.
